Title: Cashier - Relief - Days/Evenings/Weekends Location: PA-Reading-St Joseph Med Ctr- Bern Campus Job Number: 120####### Job Summary: This job is responsible for a variety of tasks and operations to prepare, serve and receive payment for food and non-food items offered in the cafeteria. Follows standard practices and procedures in the Food and Nutrition Services Department. Maintains a high level of sanitation and safety in accordance with regulatory agencies. Must also consistently provide excellent customer service. Essential Functions: * Operates cash register and makes financial transactions being accountable for money taken in and given out. Completes cash reports and follows cash handling procedures. * Organizes and plans daily activities using the task analysis as a guide. Reviews menus and service guidelines in order to be knowledgeable about service. Anticipates and works ahead as necessary to accommodate the needs of the upcoming shift. * Communicates with co-workers, Supervisor, Manager and others as necessary regarding the work of the department. Participates in department communications such as Pre-Service Meetings, weekly and monthly meetings and monthly and annual trainings. * Maintains equipment and work area as necessary throughout the day. Completes daily and special cleaning needs as assigned. Adheres to good sanitation and safety practices. Reports any maintenance repairs or unsafe conditions to management. * Completes any other maintenance and/or upkeep duties as assigned on the task analysis. * Checks and records temperatures as necessary in accordance with HACCP. * Sets up, services and disassembles all areas within the Caf. * Review menu boards and signage to ensure accuracy. * May assist in serving food items as needed. Assists customers or co-workers as necessary. * Requisitions and stocks supplies. * Operates equipment normally found in an institutional cafeteria/kitchen. * Maintains confidentiality in employee/patient/customer related issues. * Maintains excellent customer service at all times. * Makes coffee for cafeteria service. * Performs related duties as required. Qualifications: Education: * High school diploma or equivalent GED Required. Experience: * Two years of recent cashiering work experience, * OR any combination of experience and education that would demonstrate the capability to perform the duties of the position.
